The Emmy Noether research group of Florian I. Schmidt at the Institute of Innate Immunity of the University of Bonn is currently offering the following part-time position (65 %)
PhD position in Molecular Immunology/Virology (m/f/d)
The position is available for three years.
The Schmidt lab takes an entirely novel approach to study the cell biology of the innate immune system: We generate custom-made nanobodies to interfere with and to visualize activation antiviral signaling pathways in highly specific ways. Our tools render the fascinating signaling complexes of the innate immune system accessible to systematic analysis in an unprecedented way. We aim to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of antiviral signaling complexes and their regulation using a broad range of viruses. We address mechanistic questions from multiple perspectives using cell biological, biochemical, immunological, and virological approaches in combination with advanced imaging techniques and protein engineering.
