The Department of Developmental Pathology at the University of Bonn/University Hospital Bonn (Bonn, Germany) invites applications for two positions.

Postdoc (m/w/d) PhD student (m/w/d)

The positions are available from 01.07.2023 on. The contracts initially run for three years due to a project.

• One focus of our research centers around the complex networks regulating male germ cell development. To this end, we established and analyzed mouse models deficient in genes expressed in the male germline such as Protamines (Schneider et al., Cells 2020; Merges et al., Development 2022; Arevalo et al., PLOS Genetics 2022; Umer et al., Development 2022) as well as structural Proteins (Umer et al., Development 2022; Merges et al., Biorxiv 2022; Scheider, Kovacevic et. al., Biorxiv 2022). The projects deal with deciphering the detailed and complex network of interaction of structural proteins during spermiogenesis, as well as with the analysis of early post-fertilization effects due to the disturbance of DNA-Protamination. Here, the successful candidates will employ various methods in molecular biology from basic cloning, analysis in cell culture, protein-biochemistry to Mass-Spec., RNA-Seq., ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq. as well as generation of further mouse mutant lines using CRISPR-Cas9 techniques.

• Applicants should have a Master of Science (M.Sc.) or equivalent academic degree in a field related to the research area. Experience in some of the mentioned techniques is also advantageous

• For the postdoc position, Ph. D.experience in the field of reproductive genetics and epigenetics is appreciated but not mandatory

• Possibility to submit the habilitation (if requirements are met – Postdoc position only)
