At the Eye Hospital, University of Bonn Medical School, Germany is available a full time position (38,5 hrs/week) in the Ophthalmic Epidemiology Research Unit at the Department of Ophthalmology: Postdoc position in patient-reported outcomes in vision (m/f/d) - Design and evaluation as endpoints in clinical trials.
The position starts as soon as possible and is available for one year with the possibility of an extension.
The PostDoc position will focus on the further development and validation of quality of life and instrumental activities of daily living outcome measures in relation to visual impairment. Work will be mostly quantitative and use modern psychometric methods including Rasch analysis. The work will be embedded in an existing EU funded project as well as a DFG funded project and will encompass the full breadth of scientific work including the drafting of study protocols, obtaining ethics approval where required, implementation of the study, data analysis and publication. Support and mentoring will be available at every step along the way. Active participation in local, national and international conferences is expected. The positions will not take part in any teaching provided at the department unless explicitly desired.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, team-oriented PostDoc with a strong interest in patient-reported outcomes and/or psychometrics. Experience with quantitative research methodology is required and a degree in social sciences, psychology/psychometrics, health sciences and/or epidemiology is essential. Previous work experience in ophthalmology, optometry, optics or orthoptics is advantageous but not essential. Fluency in German and a good grasp of English is required.
