Research Software Consulant (m/f/d) 501_2023

As consultant in our iBOTS team, you will have the opportunity to:

•      Consult with neuroscience researchers on their computational projects and provide training, tutorials, and troubleshooting support

•      Develop and maintain research software for iBehave projects and researchers using Python and Git

•      Disseminate knowledge and assist with knowledge management within the group

•      Mentor and collaborate with other team members to achieve common goals

We are looking for someone who has:

•       At least 4 years of experience with Python, SQL, or R experience and at least 6 months’ experience in Git, demonstrated by a portfolio of open-source projects on a Git platform (e.g.            GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc)

•       At least 2 years of experience in at least two of the following fields: distributed data engineering, database management, signal processing, scientific image processing, or statistics

•       Experience with cognitive or behavioral sciences or a master’s degree or better in neuroscience or a related field

•       Strong communication and mentoring skills, with an interest in training others and making complex ideas simple

•       Past working experience in teaching, tutoring, and/or management.

•       Strong German and English language skills

A strong interest in working in a highly-collaborative team environment using software craftsmanship methodologies in an academic setting

The position is available starting immediately for initially three years due the project with the possibility of extension. The position will be affiliated with the Institute of Physiology II, University of Bonn Medical School, Germany.
